NICO DELAIDE, Belgium
Nico Delaide started out as a fourteen-year-old apprentice, not knowing what he could learn. Fortunately, he discovered that his hands and his mind had real potential. As the child and grandson of artists, he combined a purely classical technical education with a conceptual one at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. And now, for over 30 years, as the owner of a commercial jewelry company, he has combined jewelry making with writing short stories and poems, painting and creating collages. In particular, this combination of stories with jewelry and playing with words in search of the right forms shows him as a three-dimensional writer. Nico has been awarded several international prizes and his work has been exhibited in many European countries.
