NADEZHDA ELKINA

Unidentified objects

These objects exist before they are defined, named or classified. Their fluid, abstract, tactile forms are closer to vibration than function. They are not created to be “understood” by visual systems or algorithms, they deliberately remain undefined, resistant to recognition. Each object can be a brooch, a ring, or an earring, but at the same time it can be devoid of any functionality and remain just an object. By changing the decorative elements, 27 different combinations are possible. In a world increasingly governed by predictive systems, classification and algorithmic pattern recognition, these objects become unreadable. They reject the meaning imposed by systems. Here, substance becomes a space of potential, a silent act of resistance that restores autonomy, intuition, choice and sensory experience.
