MICHAEL BERGER

KAS CH-02

This brooch is part of a new series he began creating this year, in which fan-like wings arranged in rows can swing back and forth in a wavy motion. For optimal movement, the brooch can be adjusted horizontally after being pinned on. In this aligned position, the transformation occurs most quickly, triggered by the slightest change in position.
The surface suddenly changes from a highly polished, reflective stainless-steel surface to a matte black, lacquered side. One moment shiny and stunning, the next dark and almost invisible. The closed round shape breaks into individual parts and reappears with a different look. The presence of the material dissolves in a split second – and reappears from nowhere.

MICHAEL BERGER, Germany

Michael Berger transforms jewellery through visually appealing stages. Rings with a fascinating look that teases and awakens playfulness, brooches that react to the slightest movements of the body and change colour and shape – this is how you get to know Michael Berger's kinetic jewellery.
The German designer and manufacturer designs and creates these extraordinary pieces of jewelry from stainless steel and gold, often complemented with precious stones or dichroic glass. Using state-of-the-art production techniques, he creates wearable sculptures – architecturally clear in design and technically perfect in execution.
Starting with jewellery, Berger now also designs larger kinetic objects and wall art – stunning conversation pieces with a playful, interactive touch.
