Torso Pompadour

Marijana Pišonić found her inspiration for the Torso Pompadour necklace in the figure of Madame Pompadour. The necklace combines the rawness of materials with profound symbolism of the female body, emphasizing the breasts, navel and wound, while omitting the face and limbs, thus focusing on the body as an object of projection and power. The red wire, like stitches woven through the upper torso, opens themes of pain, vulnerability and pressures that have been imposed on the female body throughout history. The brooch Who Is the Madame in Me? represents a contemporary deconstruction of Rococo (safety pin, shattered mirror, wrinkled skin and metal fragments), through which the artist examines the relationship between opulence and decay, history and personal identity.
