ANDREIA GABRIELA POPESCU

Colours, vowels and the unspoken

This collection is based on colour synaesthesia, a phenomenon that the artist uses in an artistic context to describe the connections between the senses, form and essence.
It presents both a challenge to the audience for introspection and personal analysis, and a fascinating way of experiencing the world in which the senses intertwine – by associating colours with vowels or even attributing colours to unspoken things.
Colour as a substance becomes a mirror of vibrations and human transformation.
The challenge:
If colours were associated with unspoken things, what would they be?
Would they be bright or dark? Intense or soft? Smooth or textured?
Obvious or hidden? Open or closed? Vivid or pastel?
What colour would your speech be? Would it be like a rainbow?
