Origins

Substance and matter on one hand and essence and significance on the other hand raise questions about the ethics of aesthetics, not only in jewelry, but also in art. Therefore, the relationship between the value and meaning of our resources, which are not limitless, inevitably appears.
This triptych of rings reestablishes the dialogue between nature (tree) and its “derivative” (paper) through intrusion, growth and expansion. Geometry and organic domesticity bring the essence of newly imagined substances. Some of the rarest hardwoods, African ebony and Brazilwood, which are on the brink of extinction, are purposefully chosen to interact with handmade papier-mâché, known for its resilience and durability. With no internal rivalry, both materials emerge from a common origin.
