TIMON LUŽAR AND MATIJA TIHELJ

Spider’s circle

A spider creates a beautiful ornament with its continuous web weaving, creating a path along which it walks. The spider's perseverance is what motivates Timon to design a collection of borosilicate glass jewelry, namely using an open flame; earrings, a rings and a necklace. The spider creates a beautiful pattern with its continuous web weaving, and Timon also shows the perseverance and power of his energy.

The insect uses up energy by constantly moving, and regenerates it while feeding. But it is also food and a source of energy for predators (spiders). This closed circle is the inspiration for Matija when making rings made of borosilicate glass, which are of different, unequal shapes created over an open flame.

Material
borosilicate glass

Technique
glass shaping over an open flame
