SONJA TURNER FEGIĆ, Croatia

Hommage

The rich history of Croatia, particularly the Vučedol culture, inspired Sonja Turner Fegić to create the Hommage ring and necklace. She describes the ring as a small ode to the first bronze casters, the fathers of model making, placing a small cast dove at the center of the composition, while the necklace adopts decorative elements (symbols) from the Orion Bowl found near Vinkovci; this bowl is believed to have the oldest Indo-European calendar engraved on it.

Material: silver, bronze

Technique: filing, soldering, making a model for casting, sand casting
