Triangle sequence

“All series are characterized by the same minimalist, abstract movement which transforms through countless iterations, and by a great structural rigidity. The underlying dramaturgical structure also follows the possible movements of the day. By using chains as my current study material, I examine the moment through movement.

I think of the chains less as necklace and more as sculpture, body, space, landscape, and I think of experience as a process of moving rather than just of wearing. The term ‘motion’ in general signifies a continuous change in the configuration of a physical system.

Sequence defines the infinity of such existing patterns. Every serial piece I make seems to be a message from my future self. While everything is changing and is constantly in motion, so are we.”

Most days you can find Silke in the forest or heather fields around her studio. Shortly after her Master degree in jewellery, in addition to her own studio, she organized a show space for contemporary jewellery, first in Antwerp and later abroad. In her work, Silke is concerned with finding a language, aspects of life, whilst her approach is reaching beyond mere technique, convention or routine. It is characterized by an open attitude and the will to explore boundaries in the field, in her own practice and in the content, she develops with her students as towards concepts or events. Currently she is developing her critical jewellery research together with commissioned work.
