KATARINA EKART

Symmetry, Interrupted

The collection explores substance at the point where symmetry begins to break. Each piece exposes a different state of material transformation — one dispersing, another closing in on itself. Together, they examine how substance transforms as order and chaos intertwine.

Earrings
Substance in dispersion. Form stretches in disconnected directions. The piece captures a fleeting moment of dispersion, where instinct prevails over structure. Freshwater pearls act as silent centres of weight – minimal points of order within instability. A disruption of symmetry.

Ring
Substance in resolution. A continuous folded form with no interior or exterior, no beginning or end. The form exists as a closed, ideal system – continuous.

Material

Cobalt-chrome, freshwater pearls

Technique

3D print

KATARINA EKART, Slovenia

Katarina Ekart is a multidisciplinary designer whose work explores the intersections between jewelry, textile art, and digital technology. Intuitive and experimental, she explores the dialogue between materials, combining traditional craftsmanship with technological tools such as 3D printing. Her practice reflects an interest in contrasts – softness and structure, nature and technology – and how these opposites coexist, influence each other, and transform.
She is currently developing her knowledge in contemporary jewellery design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Her work has been exhibited in Slovenia, Belgium, Italy, and elsewhere, reflecting her ongoing exploration of form, material, and process.
