HALDIS SCHEICHER
Austria
Ski pole, necklace
Nordic ski, necklace
Ski boot, bracelet
The three pieces belong to the project Aprè Ski which shows Haldis’s passion for breathing new life into items of everyday use in her jewellery and objects. Alienated from their original purpose – as a whole or through selection of certain details – they are placed in new contexts.
Après Ski in this case also means a life afterwards for things that have well served their purpose in the overrun ski circus and found a new place in art.
So, the pieces – in sense of the SIJW topic – contain the energy of transformation and sustainability
