Chains of Consequences

“My project transforms discarded drink cans into woven contemporary sculptural jewelry, encouraging individuals to confront the issue of waste. This work serves as a form of ‘jewelry’ activism, raising public awareness of waste and the consequences of irresponsible waste management. Through this transformation, I want to inspire a sense of responsibility and encourage everyone to contribute to a cleaner, more respectful and more pleasant environment. By incorporating newly interpreted materials, this jewelry invites reflection on our consumer habits and encourages dialogue about sustainable practices. It challenges viewers to rethink their relationship with waste and take action towards a more sustainable future.”

Material: repurposed aluminium cans

Technique: hand weaving and crochet

Cho Nam Tsang is a jewelry designer focused on fundamental ideas (concepts). Her practice is not simply about decoration, but rather as a medium of storytelling and critique. She creates jewelry that tells stories – sometimes subtle, sometimes more direct, but always connected to the world around us. In her MA project, she transforms discarded drink cans into hand-woven chains, and with her Chains of Consequence project, she critically addressed the urban culture of waste management and disposal. Cho Nam graduated with an MA in Jewelry and Related Products from Birmingham City University, School of Jewellery, in 2025.
