Not All That Glitters …: Gold Necklace and Not All That Glitters …: Silver Necklace
The Not All That Glitters … the collection of printed textile jewelry presents a set of necklaces, “gold” and “silver,” which reflect direct brilliance through a raw luxurious aesthetic, but at the same time question its meaning and value. “Not all that glitters is gold” is a famous proverb that inspired both Shakespeare and rockers Led Zeppelin and is very relevant in today’s world of self-indulgent craving for likes and a reality processed with photographs. The reflection of the gold and silver isothermal emergency blanket (NRC rescue foil) whose purpose is to save lives (the nobility of the “cheap” material), is visually attractive and offers the possibility of manipulating the materiality of the matter by playing with its gold and silver essence. The jewelry can be assembled modularly – we can make one out of two necklaces, string the cubes together as desired, wear it on the body or hang it on the wall.

Arijana Gadžijev is a textile artist, designer, and assistant professor at the Department of Textile and Clothing Design at NTF UL. In her home studio, she creates small, sustainable and handmade textile artworks and jewelry that reflect respect for textile art craft. By combining manual and digital design techniques, an eclectic combination of materials, shapes, colours and original patterns, her work explores themes such as nature protection, cultural heritage and social inclusion. She participates in solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. She has received national and international awards for her work. She is a member of the international platform for contemporary art jewelry Klimt02 and actively exhibits her textile jewelry collections at international jewelry weeks
