Silver and Niello are two alloys known since ancient times. The search for a contemporary expressive purity displays the recurrent dichotomy between what is ancient and what is modern. A possible inspiration is traced in these words by Gustav Mahler: “Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”

Fire is energy, not ashes.
