Serenity

"Serenity does not mean freedom from the storm, but calm in the midst of the storm. It is a calm created from within. It is finding peace in the things over which we have no control. It is complete and total serenity." With Serenity, I want to evoke inner peace. Peace as found in nature, where we can be who we are. Where we allow ourselves to feel the full spectrum of emotions and at the same time remain calm in the knowledge that everything is happening for our good, for our growth and development. The inspiration for the collection comes from the repeating lines found in nature ... lines created by the wind and sun on the surface of the sea, lines of blowing desert sand, lines created by Mother Nature on the bark of trees ... Repeating lines that form beautiful patterns that are calming. The earrings and necklace are made using a veneer bending technique I developed in 2019. I used European walnut veneer, which is a rich brown colour and is warm to the touch, as well as being beautifully manageable to shape. Its lightness makes the jewellery barely feel on you, which is the intention of the collection. My vision was to create a collection with natural, soft lines, a collection that looks complex at first glance, but when you put it on you feel light and comfortable. Nothing disturbs us. We feel only serenity.

Kristina Martinčič / Kristina M Designs

Kristina M Designs is a contemporary yet different jewellery brand whose mission is to create more than just jewellery; it's about creating a lifestyle that appeals to women who are committed to themselves. With innovative wooden jewellery, I want to inspire and amaze, so that every woman feels like she's exactly where she needs to be – celebrating her uniqueness, taking time for herself and creating a calm life on her own terms. I'm Kristina Martinčič, a graduate textile and clothing designer, woodworking engineer, KMD's Chief Visionary, and a loving wife and mum to two beautiful, creative boys. I first encountered wood in 2009 when I watched my father, an amateur woodworker, having fun creating furniture for our home. My curiosity was piqued and I tried my hand at woodworking, which changed my life forever. While finishing my studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, I enrolled at the Higher Vocational School of Woodworking in Škofja Loka and deepened my knowledge of wood. Although my studies are not design-oriented, it still gave me a wonderful path, because in 2012 I was awarded the title of Green Innovator for my ecologically innovative product, wooden handbags, at the competition of the Slovenian Association of Woodworkers.
