JESSICA ROSE HAWKINS

Momento Originis

The collection explores girlhood and female identity through the integration of classical and contemporary literature. The jewelry pieces capture feelings of vulnerability, strength, and emotional fragmentation through processes such as papier mâché. Words from the books are transformed into three-dimensional embodied forms, symbolizing the desire to return to the pristine state of youth.

Material

book paper, cabochon semi-precious stones and Cz (the Czochralski process)

Technique

papier mâché, stone setting, laser cutting, riveting and lacing

Jessica draws inspiration from challenging the properties of materials and traditional processes to create bold and complex artefacts. Her design is characterized by a dark and dreamy aesthetic she developed as a tattoo artist. Her work explores the connection between emotions, shared experiences and art, drawing from her work as a mental health therapist and her studies in psychology and counselling.
