Omir Goren
For many years I have been involved in ongoing research which focuses, and whose essence are the connections between soft and hard materials, specifically between metal and textiles. I import from various places around the world to Israel, where my research is conducted, different types of fabrics and in some cases weave some of the fabric myself.
The result is the creation of totally new-looking materials which I utilize in designing my collections.
My main challenge is the integration of various techniques used in producing silver objects, incorporating metal and textile into one organic form to achieve an end product with a new and unique identity.
My language of design and technology combines materials that are perceived as opposites and from different working environments and in so doing creating a breakthrough. In so doing I attempt to obtain unique ideas in both my clothing and jewelry collections.
Sustainability is a part of my design practice, manifested in jewelry made of recycled metals, or pieces that combine leftover fabrics from the evening dresses I designed. The coating of the metals, the “patina” is carried out using exclusively environmentally safe natural materials and technologies
