SUMMARY:SECRETS OF JEWERLY FROM ANCIENT EMONA
DESCRIPTION:SECRETS OF JEWERLY FROM ANCIENT EMONA\, thematic guided tour of the exhibition New Roman Discoveries under Emonika in the Treasury of the City Museum of Ljubljana\nCity Museum of Ljubljana \nGosposka ulica 15\, Ljubljana \nTuesday\, 15 April 2025\, at 17:00 and 18:00 \n  \nArchaeological excavations carried out before the start of construction of the multifunctional complex Emonika\, which took place in the spring and summer of 2024\, revealed parts of the northern cemetery of Emona\, and with them numerous important finds that testify to the everyday life and beliefs of the Romans and their fondness for diverse decorations. In addition to ceramic and glass objects and oil lamps with various motifs\, we found earrings\, one of which\, made of gold wire\, was decorated with a horizontally placed green stone\, possibly an emerald; the other ring\, silver\, is shaped like a fly or a cicada. Among the most striking finds is an astonishing set of jewellery from the 4th century\, which includes four bronze bracelets\, two simple and two with snake-head finials\, a silver ring with a glass green insert\, and a necklace of fifteen dark blue glass strawberries with two silver clasp loops. Each of these pieces of jewelry tells its own story of the masterful craftsmanship and personal styles of the time. Are you curious about what symbolism these objects carried? How did the Romans take care of their appearance and what jewellery meant to them? Join us as we discover the stories of incredible finds and peek into the everyday lives of the inhabitants of ancient Emona. \n  \nDr. BERNARDA ZUPANEK\, Museum Councillor and Curator of Antiquities at the City Museum of Ljubljana and archaeologist Ana Kovačič. \n  \nRegistration is required via email: prijava@mgml.si \n  \nhttps://mgml.si/sl/mestni-muzej/ \nCity Museum of Ljubljana – https://www.facebook.com/mestni.muzej.ljubljana/?locale=sl_SI \nCity Museum of Ljubljana – https://www.instagram.com/mestnimuzejljubljana/
