DESCRIPTION:Koroški pokrajinski muzej (Carinthian Regional Museum\, Slovenia) \nGlavni trg 24\, Slovenj Gradec\nThursday\, April 17\, 2025\, at 18:00 \n  \nAs part of the Slovenian Jewellery Week 2025 (SIJW)\, we kindly invite you to a guided tour of the temporary exhibitions\, created in collaboration with the Jewellery Week creators and the Department of Textile and Clothing Design\, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering\, University of Ljubljana. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to explore unique jewellery pieces by Slovenian designers and goldsmiths\, featuring exclusively Slovenian gemstones\, sourced and cut in Slovenia. Additionally\, the tour will introduce the “Jewelry\, Carry Me” project\, a creative endeavor by 21 students from various years of the undergraduate Textile and Clothing Design program. Under the mentorship of Prof. Nataša Peršuh\, Assistant Nataša Hrupić (UL NTF OTGO)\, and master goldsmith Peter Dragolič (Jewellery Lab\, Center Rog)\, the students explored traditional craftsmanship\, innovative materials\, and sustainable design practices.

DESCRIPTION:Center Rog\, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering\, University of Ljubljana \nKoroški pokrajinski muzej (Carinthian Regional Museum\, Slovenia)\nGlavni trg 24\, Slovenj Gradec \nExhibition viewing: April 10 – April 24\, 2025\, Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM\, Saturday\, Sunday\, Holidays: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM \n  \nThe sustainable project Jewelry\, Carry Me was developed within the elective course Fashion Accessories 1 as part of a collaboration between Center Rog in Ljubljana and the Department of Textile and Clothing Design at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering\, University of Ljubljana. A creative group of 21 undergraduate students from various years of textile and clothing design worked under the guidance of professional mentors: Prof. Nataša Peršuh and Assistant Nataša Hrupić from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering\, University of Ljubljana\, along with master goldsmith Peter Dragolič from the Jewelry Lab at Center Rog. \nThrough this academic project\, students explored the possibilities and working environment of jewelry design\, experimenting with various classical and innovative materials and techniques. Alongside newly acquired traditional goldsmithing skills\, they integrated sustainably sourced remnants of natural and other materials from their surroundings into their creations—often employing upcycling and creative reuse principles. \nThe result is a diverse range of jewelry collections\, documented using three different digital photography techniques by photographer Marijo Županov\, which creatively enhance the collections’ identities. Innovative scanography technology offers viewers an authentic and immersive experience of the jewelry’s materiality\, inviting deeper reflection on the relationship between the body and adornment.

Stones and jewellery are deeply intertwined\, telling stories that span millions of years while merging with contemporary design approaches. \nEach original jewellery piece\, adorned with natural stones from Slovenian deposits\, highlights the beauty of nature through its colour\, texture\, and form\, bringing together various local artisans in a harmonious creative dialogue. \nThis project was developed in collaboration with the Slovenian Museum of Natural History and the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (Goldsmiths and Jewellers Section). It is also linked to the MINFOS International Mineral Fair\, continually growing and evolving.
