Void

We live in a world where everything has to be quantifiable, fit in a box, and labelled. This perspective affects how we think and interpret our world. However, in reality, everything is in a state of becoming – filled with potential and kinetic energy. This notion of perpetual transformation drives Morse’s work. In Morse’s pierced brooches, similar to phenakistoscopes, move and transform. The top or middle layer can spin to create an animation. Movement is so crucial that when the piece is still, it feels incomplete. The brooches’ designs start as line drawings, reflecting fluidity and synesthetic relationships, and by translating them into metal, their kinetic nature is enhanced.

This collection includes Void, Origin of Rain and Red’s Breath.
