The ring is based on Spacal's art print Kraško znamenje, 1980, 90x64 cm, woodcut. It was therefore created in interplay with the work of the famous and one of the most important world-renowned representatives of contemporary graphic art, Lojze Spacal. His prints present me with a new challenge in creating the jewellery collection Karst World. Through his works, a completely new and unique design concept of jewellery design is emerging. With the new collection, I want to promote Spacal's works in particular, not only because he is a Slovene from Trieste, but simply because his art is perfect for depicting his Karst motifs on fashion accessories. His modest shades in winter tones and black and white contrasts call out for unique jewellery. I draw on his prints for his visual idiosyncrasies.

So, my creations relate to the karst motif. I bring in abstract karst and coastal motifs. Many pieces of jewellery include horizontal-vertical "grids", which represent a synthesis of karst fences, walls, ladders, staircases, harbour pegs, salt pans, etc. In some pieces we can detect squares and rectangles, which bear the memory of windows, doors and brickwork, whitish stones ...

Spacal's abstract images, showing clear and pure forms in colour, are an endless source of inspiration for me. It is a challenge for me to create jewellery that comes out of the killed "karst" colours and the indescribable, hard, masculine "poetry".
The Karst World jewellery collection is recognisable by its distinctive artistic composition, unique aesthetic, clean lines and selected colours. The jewellery is based on colour contrasts, between embossed prints and smooth shiny surfaces.
The jewellery is made of water-based modelling compound. It is made from 97% natural materials. It is air-dried. After the jewellery piece has dried, it is sanded and after sanding it is painted with paints. Finally, the jewellery piece is coated with a protective varnish. It allows me to create innovative, fresh and unique jewellery designs.

The idea for each piece of jewellery is first sketched on paper (line and colour). For brooches I add a tag, for rings I add a metal base or base, and for necklaces the choice of the right cord is an important part of the jewellery itself.

I am Jasmina Rojc, born on 12 October 1988 in Šempeter pri Gorici.

I attended the Art High School in Nova Gorica, art course, where I got my first art education.
In 2007 I started my studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, majoring in painting and in 2012 I successfully graduated. In the same year I enrolled in a postgraduate course under the mentorship of Professor Igor Lečić and Professor of Art History Saverio Simi de Burgis, I graduated in 2015.

I have had a number of solo exhibitions, group exhibitions and participated in art colonies internationally. I am the recipient of numerous art prizes. I create jewellery in parallel with painting. In 2017, my first jewellery series, Karst World, was published. It was (and still is) created in interplay with the works of the famous and one of the most important world-renowned representatives of contemporary graphic art, Lojze Spacal. Spacal's abstract images, showing clear and pure forms in colour, are an endless source of inspiration for me.
I live and work in Zalošice, where I also have my own studio.
